Lochinvar has supplied three EcoShield high efficiency water heaters as part of the refurbishment of one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings. The Grade 2 listed Royal Insurance Building which has been disused for more than 20 years has reopened as the Aloft Hotel.
The original neo baroque building dates back to 1896 and its refurbishment led to it being shortlisted for this year’s European Hotel Design and British Construction Industry awards. English Heritage was also able to remove this landmark building from its ‘at risk’ register as a result of the refurbishment.
The rooms all have walk in showers which place considerable demand on the hot water supply. Lochinvar worked with a contractor to select equipment that could provide a hot water system to meet the hotels demands. Three direct gas-fired EcoShield SHW115-435CE high efficiency water heaters were chosen because of their ability to provide up to 6000 litres of hot water per hour working in combination. Each water heater can store 425v litres and their fast recovery means they can respond quickly at times of heavy demand making them ideal for hotel applications.
